The choir rehearses every Wednesday night from 6.30pm to 8.30pm between August and June in St John’s – Renfield Church. We also hold sectional rehearsals for altos/sopranos and tenors/basses twice per term on Saturday mornings and have full choir rehearsals on the two Saturday mornings preceding a concert. This amounts to about 20 rehearsals per concert.
We hold concerts twice a year, one in June and the other in December. We sing a varied repertoire, which feedback has shown our audiences appreciate and enjoy. We also perform competitively in the Glasgow Music Festival, which takes place in March each year. In 2019 we won all three classes that we entered and were awarded the Orpheus Choir Trophy.
In 2021, the Mackintosh Choir was planning to celebrate its 10th Anniversary by touring to Germany in October of that year. Unfortunately, these plans had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
